Taking stock of the current situation

Every place in England will have at least some past study reports, some of which may be still valid while others may have become dated.  An important part of taking stock is noting which data needs to be refreshed, as well as noting which further data is now needed in the light of climate change and other emerging issues, including the Covid pandemic.

Current UK statistics can be drawn down from Government websites, including around the Government’s Indices of Multiple Deprivation which cover 37 different local measures.  Gathering knowledge of other local initiatives that are still in the planning stages will be included in this task, as well as creating clarity around relevant District, County and Government-level policies, and the Local Transport Plan.

A convenient way to store and present collected data is to enter it onto a Geographic Information System (GIS) database, using software such as Parish Online as illustrated above.
